Okay, I lied. I'm writing another post on my iPad. I'm really quite comfortable and speedy with the pretend keyboard. The only thing really holding up my speed is the extra work needed for apostrophes, and editing.

Simple solution: start a campaign to abolish apostrophes (yes, I said it, they're mostly unnecessary); and be infallible.

Excellent ideas. By the way, I admire your gutsy and unpredictable approach to punctuation.

The other cool thing about the ipad with my dad is how he's now using Chinese more. Typing in Chinese takes a bit of effort to learn and he never learned the pinyin romanization system. But now he can just write the characters with his fingers and the ipad's writing recognition system offers a few characters to choose a match from. Pretty cool. You can do this on your iphone and ipod touch too. I added the Chinese international keyboard to my ipod touch but I only know a handful of Chinese characters so I couldn't write much besides "I am Janice" and "I am a student" :) But my dad's getting a lot of use out of it. He says that it's been so long since he used Chinese that he's forgotten how to write some words. But the writing recognition is good enough that if he gets most of the strokes in, he can then choose the correct character from the list.

Wow! I had no idea that the Chinese localization was so good. Kinda reminds me of the Palm Pilot interface. (Which I know you remember well. :)

Oh and do you still have cats? You could also load up ipad game for cats if you trusted that their paws would keep their claws retracted :)
