Hey, Everyone :)

Just feel like chatting.

The other day I watched Becoming Jane. Hadn't seen it in a while. I really liked the cousin's gowns.

See the striped bodice jacket in this photo lovingly borrowed from costumersguide.com Second in from the right ( Read more... )

Good morning lovely Baroness!!

C. and I are thinking about the SteamPunk World's Faire. We've got some other stuff on the calendar in the same month so we are not certain of it yet.

As long as my Dad's health doesn't deteriorate in the next couple of days we ARE going to Wicked Faire, which is organized by the same person. How well that goes off will also of course play into our decision.

I'll let you know what we decide!

There's a Steampunk World's Fair? That sounds fun!
I have a postcard from the 1933 World's Fair that granddad sent to grandmom. It's pretty funny - http://www.flickr.com/photos/78831580@N00/3221185674/sizes/l/

(Since we bailed on Wicked Faire as being too "adult" for our style of entertainment, we were asked to came to the more all-ages event.) We're planning to go, and I'm going to try to make more era-appropriate costumes. It's our first Steampunk event, so I'm curious to see how we go over.

I attended a Wicked Faire a few years ago and was really disappointed. I assume it'll be filled with bad steampunk and Ren- Faire-garb-turned-"Victorian" rag people wearing wings and purple yarn falls in their brown hair.

If I'm wrong, I'll be delighted, but from what I've seen in the past, I think I'm spot on.

Ahaha, we always called that Norway hair, as it looked like the yarn fall flew in from Norway and landed on their head while the wearer was completely unaware. :D

I have a friend coming in from the West coast who's most likely going, so I may end up there as well. At the very least, it looks like we'll be in your neck of the woods on the days surrounding it!

C. and I are attending Wicked Faire for the first time. I admit some trepidation at an event that seems geared toward adults yet permits 16 and 17 year olds, but we are keeping an open mind about it. I suppose we must, considering the nature of the event. How it's managed will definitely impact any decision we make about attending the steampunk event in the spring.

Oh, it's not very naughty. There was a poorly done amateur burlesque show and some vendors were selling a few sex toys. I'm sure there will be someone with way too much boob hanging out (but isn't there always when people have an excuse to wear a corset and shove 'the girls' unattractively up to their neck?).

LOL!!! I have no doubt we will be seeing WAY to much cleavage and 'shelvage'!!

Still, the musical entertainment line up is worth the event price IMO, and it will give a chance to visit with The Gothling on the way up and friends of ours in NJ on the way home.
