I finally did something I've wanted to for a while. Do a pet based legacy. So this will be a few pics of my very first DOG legacy and then some other fun pet pics (from a different family).
Thanks for the tips. Maybe the pet I was trying to have sleep wasn't tired enough or the bed was glitchy. It's kind of a moot point right now since I'm better off without the bed taking up space (I hate the house, it's just not the right shape for this huge clan).
I love the pet breeding in sims3 (obviously!). If I can get this kind of variety from two "pure bred" EA dogs, imagine the possibilities with funky custom animals. *plots*
I noticed this week, having played a sim cat for the first time, that their social meter seems to tank really quickly. I could understand that for dogs, but cats not so much. In my experience cats are pretty happy when left to their own devices, so this kind of annoyed me. In fact, my cats seem genuinely annoyed sometimes when I decide to go for a cuddle. Maybe my 100 baby house was not the place to experiment with sim pet ownership though. I might have to try again with another not-so-hectic family.
I haven't noticed a difference between cats and dogs, but my "friendly" dogs (with the friendly trait) need a lot of of socialization. Thankfully, it fills back up quickly so it's not hard to keep them well balanced.
Yeah, your crazy breeder house isn't exactly pet-friendly!
I have to say I'm not a big fan of Chihuahuas in real life but, dang, Napoleon is Cute! So is Thug. :)
Hypnotoad is a hoot! That first picture of him sitting on the table remind me of an old Garfield cartoon. Garfield is sitting on the table next to John and he tells Garfield that this is his chicken leg on the plate and Garfield is not allowed to touch it. Garfield then sneezes on it, wipes it off, then scratches hair all over it. John winds up giving it to Garfield and the cat says, "Only if you don't want it!" My cat in the game has become a fairly good hunter. Never brought home any womrats or chips packages (maybe my sims don't litter as much as yours!) but he did bring in a few feathers and a couple of snakeskins.
Hypnotoad has found snakeskins, too. It's odd because he usually gets them after he tries to catch an animal that's NOT a snake. Makes me wonder if the non-snakes are just carrying snakeskins around as consolation prizes should they get attacked.
I told you! Puppies! I love that you made a new family for the sole purpose of adopting your spare dogs! That is fantastic. I am loving the results of your breeding experiments. You really got a great mix of the parents' genetics! I agree, much better than TS2. I haven't played around with breeding much yet (mostly focusing on training and skilling), but I'm loving the Pets expansion as well. It seems to be polarizing amongst Simmers, but I love me some critters.
Have you noticed that it takes pets much longer than Sims to learn skills? Or is that just me? Mine take ages.
Oh, it's so much better than TS2 it's almost unfair to even compare them. It's funny how polarizing the pets EP is, huh? But that's the sims community for you. Get all worked up over a non-issue. Don't like an EP? Take a deep breath and. . .don't buy it. Silly simmers!
I just couldn't leave those dogs in the adoption pool. At least this way they have a chance at having a life (even if the family moves away). I'm such a softie when it comes to pets. In different game, I'm adopting ONLY elder cats so they get to live out their lives in a happy home.
I haven't noticed the skilling thing but only because the only skill I taught is hunting. The first time I taught it I thought I had so the dog could hunt on their own and it didn't seem to take overly long (and I only taught to get the first level).
I find a lot of stuff in sims3 takes longer, so I'm kind of getting used to that (fast forward is so SLOW and sims sleep way too freaking long and they seem to walk slower, etc).
The hunting skill didn't seem to take my cat too long to learn (although even that was slower than my Sims learn skills), but my horse takes foooooooreeeeeeeeveeeeeeeeer to learn anything. My Sim got to level 10 in riding in a few days, but the horse is still at level 2 in racing and only just got level 3 in jumping (and that's only because I made him practice pretty much every second he was awake). Wins agility competitions with no problem, but just will not skill up. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but I feel like this cannot be normal.
I forgot to mention I also put stuff all over the lawn. The Starter's treadmill is there currently, because I couldn't figure out where else to put it. This is going to be a problem when I finally get Seasons!
