I like the older stuff, like "Barrel Fever" and any where he's talking about his childhood. "Holidays on Ice" is really good (I think that's the one that has the story about his time spent working as an elf at Macy's christmas set up--very amusing).
His newer stuff is ok but it's a bit more redundant. You can tell each story was written to be a stand alone item (to be read on NPR) so when you read them back to back there's a lot of re-hash (reminding folks of how people in the story are related to him and things like that).
I saw him about a year ago and the show was SO MUCH FUN! I also went to his book signing beforehand and was so nervous/giggly (I get giggly when nervous) that he asked if I had smoked pot beforehand! It was really embarrassing...mainly because I didn't know he was asking me that because of how I was acting! But I LOVED the show and he drew a really cute holly leaf with his signature in his book of Christmas stories that I have. :-)

Which are his best works? I've picked up a couple in the bookstore, but never bought/read one.
