1) You are longer in fandom than I am, I started watching when S5's last episodes aired. (Didn't watch that live, as I'm not in the US). I rememer that I was super intruiged about the hell storyline and I also happened to see a youtube vid that was like the Ultimate Dean Whump Compilation and that was very relevant to my interestes *cough*. Also at that time I was kind of aware of the fandom's bad reputation and one day I started looking for fic expecting it to be bad and then it was really awesome! I didn't understand a lot of it but I loved it. (I was totally clueless about the sheer size of the fandom at this point as well). So I started watching with S4 and I'll have to admit that in the beginning I just kind of watched all over the place, picking whichever episode seemed good. xD I've marathoned the seasons in order since then, of course ( ... )

YES FOR DEAN SEEING THROUGH THE VEIL

That was so great about that episode. Aw and it freaked him out and he had those BRUISES and Bobby was all "I'm onto you, boy." ♥

Even in English I always feel the need to preface my love to non-fans by saying that it's a terrible show. Campiness is one thing but I'm having more and more problems with its ideology. :/ BUT STILL I WANT SAM TO FEEL DEAN'S FOREHEAD.

YAY ANOTHER POWERS!DEAN GURL :DDDDD Freaked!Dean is so delicious. I've mentioned it a few times but I also love his Impala related panik attacks. Like the Bela one but also in skin when Sam is like 'let it go Dean!'

Hahaha yes it is kind of terrible but I love the campy B-movie elements. I still feel like the early seasons have quality TV moments though, they're so good with the emotional stuff. I can't think of another show that addresses family dysfunction so well. (but then I don't know all that many shows). Are you thinking about the race/feminism issues when you say ideology? We don't have to get into it though!

Yeahhh, the feminism issues. And hmmm. The attitude toward outsiders in general. As much as they pretend to explore grey areas, look at Dean's distaste for punk/metal women, in "Phantom Traveller" and that other episode in S3 when Sam's drinking early. They don't say a word to him, he just takes one look at their aesthetic choices and goes EWW and dismisses them. Dean who loves metal! Look at him killing the phoenix who had been totally totally wronged, and how noooobody anywhere in the show was like, "Hmm, maybe that wasn't necessarily the right thing to do." Look at how all of Dean's insults for women are about sex. WOMEN EXIST FOR THINGS OTHER THAN SEX, DEAN. Look at the Ruby storyline, where for a year I was like, "Cooool, look at them really delving into grey areas and showing that demons can be good sometimes," and then they were like, JUST KIDDING SHE WAS EVIL. I loved it so much in that episode about the haunted house, that turned out to be "haunted" by living people, when that one guy was going all alpha male on ( ... )
