good lord man. you never really think about power until it's gone. and i thought i had it bad when mine went out for four hours the other night!

How crazy! Glad to hear you and your family are okay, though. Despite the inconveniences and problems, it must have been an interesting experience - I've never had to go that long without power - only a couple of hours, max.

It was more boring than interesting; we basically sat around and stared at one another in between the KMOX new reports, because we didn't dare venture out on the roads if we didn't have to. (St. Louis is a bad city for driving to begin with; take away traffic lights and it's suicidal.) But, yeah, at least I know I can survive by my wits alone. :-)
