Smooshed names in real life

Because we have comms on the bike, husband and I can chat (albeit in a limited way) while we're in motion. On the way to Southampton the other day, he mentioned that he'd heard something about a current trend where couples are naming their children smooshed versions of their own given names

Dalex is an awesome name.

That smooshed name thing, however, is a shudder-worthy trend.

Yeah, it's bad enough for pairings, but *outside* fandom!? It's just wrong.

I've come to accept it's inevitability in fandom (but I still kind of hate it most of the time)
