Yes, crochet is much easier to take with you than knitting, especially when you need to pick up stuff in a hurry.

BUT

Picking up a skein of yarn is NOT easier than picking up a *ball* of wool.

You did actually know this before you grabbed your WIP scarf this morning as you were running out the door. And telling yourself that

Luckily my mother's house has old fashioned round door 'knobs'. I think it would have taken me much longer at my house.

I remember the first time I got wool in a skein. I didn't know you were supposed to wind it into a ball.

Half a skein later, I had a *tremendous* mess to try and untangle!
