I was close to speechless today when a man down in Mexico e-mailed me pics of this poor dog.

I have a client dog that looks about the same. It got splashed with hydrochloric acid being rinsed off an air conditioner condenser. The solution was pretty weak but it sat on the skin overnight. Debride, antibiotics, tramadol, and wait for the granulation bed to stabilize is all I could do.

Well, that's pretty much what's being done for this guy.

HCl on a condenser? Huh? I didn't realize HCl had anything to do with air conditioners... o_O Why would there be HCl on an air conditioner condenser?????????

The HCl is a cleanser meant to remove oxidation and debris from the metal surface. It's sprayed on at a medium concentration during some types of repair visits, allowed to work, and then hosed off. HCl isn't present during normal operations.

Was the bleach dog incident after you left Cornell? I can't remember when it happened exactly, just that it was sometime before I started clinics...
Anyway, this reminds me of that case. Poor pup!

Apparently so, because I don't remember that. I can imagine what bleach would do to a dog, but what happened that resulted in bleach on a dog?

A jackass student thought it was okay to abuse a dog for some small infraction. Looks like it happened spring 07, so you might have been in San Diego at this point. His sentence was ridiculously light (booooo!) but at least the dog got good home - Dr. Luschini (Emergency) adopted her.
