Holy Crap. One of my best friends in the area is an animation/illustration major at san jose state, and she showed me a trailer for the persepolis MOVIE. And, at the local comic store barely a mile from my house, I saw two of the books! I was all "Holy Crap, this is amazing. This is art and culture of a place I have no familiarity with whatsoever. I have to read it!" I haven't purchased them yet due to necessary credit card restraint, but oh man, do I need to get them.
BTW I gave blankets to one of my friends as a birthday present. It was well received. Are you still in LA?

Yeah, I'm still down here in Ontario. (Whether my efforts are futile remain to be seen.) I was wondering what happened to that copy of blankets! I knew I gave it to Joe Hoksbergen a while ago... I'm waiting on that Craig Thompson to write another one. I am going to be SO late for work if I don't get running, but I just found out about that movie from looking for those links. And I'm gonna find it as soon as it's availible.
One of my coworkers is married to an animation major... But is a story for another day. And as far as arts and culture are concerned, I am VERY hungry for anything that's more sophisticated than Larry the Cable Guy. (This is not intended as an insult against Larry the Cable Guy. He's just the most convienient example I have right now.)
