Down the dogs

Nov 13, 2005 14:57

I'll have a pony on number five, a monkey on six ...and a Dodo on three.

Yep. Last night myself, Claire, icemachine, cosmosflys, Steve, Kevin and a gaggle of others went down the dogs in Reading didn't we innit.

Despite constantly referring to the greyhounds as horses (you'd have thought the six foot height difference would have been a clue... well that and the fact that they were actually, you know, dogs) I had a couple of winners and finished the evening only about £3.50 down. Claire and icemachine, I think, had three winners, and Steve and his sister had at least five. Another chap who was with us headed home around £30-£40 in profit following his highly scientific, 'Always Bet On Orange' system. It seemed to work though. Certainly more so than my initial, 'Always Bet On The Name You Like The Sound Of' theory. A system that was swiftly disproved and abandoned after I lost the proverbial shirt off my back five races in, and replaced with the much improved, 'Always Bet On The Favourite' plan. It might not have been exciting but it got results. Well, relatively speaking anyway.

CMON NUMBER FOUR!
