Yes, MacBastard is insane.
So, we did indeed get our Wii. Huzzah! MacBeyotch and son have been playing Wii sports most of the morning while I slept.
Much to our horror, we were told that the GameStop where we lived got screwed out of about half of their pre-ordered units (a la the PS3 launch fiasco). We also found out that the Target was getting 24 units in. Fearing we'd not get our precious pre-ordered Wii... MacBastard decided to go hardcore. I camped out overnight.
That's right, I sat outside of Target overnight... with a bunch of other gamers, kids and their parents in near freezing temperatures practically freezing my nuts off while playing Starfox DS, MarioKart DS and Final Fantasy IV... waiting for the morning to come to get a Wii. And I got my Wii, dammit. #8 out of 24. And a copy of Zelda, to boot. Woo hoo! :)
The best part, though, is that GameStop did indeed get their shipment of Wiis in... so now we have two. :-D
So I'm taking advantage of the Wii hysteria to hock our second unit on eBay.
So now that I'm more or less coherent and playing the system, I'll post some impressions when I get around to it. Cheerio all! :)
