Why does everything that looks too good to be true turn out to be just that? Everybody's been telling me to use Craigslist, and it finally updated with an actual 'Copy Editor' job - and after I sent an email with my resume attached, a little Googling reveals it to be part of a big phishing scheme. I'm always a little leery of the editor/writer jobs on Craigslist. All the local ones here are pretty transparently scams or other related nonsense, so I eye the "good" ones with suspicion too. Craigslist can be good-found my current job there-but there IS a lot of scamming, etc., as well. Sadly, I haven't had a lot of luck with Monster or Workopolis, but then again, you're in a different area and have different experience so you might. Worth a try, I suppose, if you haven't done so already.
I wish I had advice for you about where or how to find a job in editing. :( I have no clue either.
