Been rather Pro-sy the last year

So to top it all off I finally got around to laying hands on the ProsLib dvd, sorting through it and seeing which authors aren't actually on the internet, and making a list of stories to transfer to my Kindle. It's a much easier way to read .txt files than on a computer screen, that's for sure ( Read more... )

One really *should* witter on about the differences here! Wow, its so great to see these pics in their original glory, rather than looking like they've been left out in the sun or something. Super comparisons and shows what a properly filmic quality the original shots had - except that we all had grotty TVs to watch them on in the 70s so we would never have seen the true beauty!

I remember when I got the first set, I played a scene from one of my earlier dvds (the lads' sprint to find the young honey pot girl before the baddies get to her in Female Factor) straight after I watched my new eps, and the difference was just jaw-dropping. I spent a lot of time saying, "I didn't realise that Doyle's sneakers were so *red*....) *g*

Ooh, nice set of comparisons. It is interesting, isn't it? I was fascinated to learn that the original broadcasts were not in the hues we think of; those came out in the transfers to newer formats. So people watching the original saw different colours from people watching ten years or more later. (And possibly, given the variation in TV sets then, different colours from their neighbours, too :))

Interesting that Bodie becomes much less sharp, though - the 'milky skin and black hair' of fic becomes the more natural and normal skin and dark hair. And I rather like that saturnine Bodie of the fic.

As for the DVD, oooh yes. Right, I promised Verlaine some CD recs and got side-tracked. I'll see if I can get on with that and post it some time soon. And, erm, I have done mobi and pub versions of quite a lot of them, and fixed the *asterisked like this* to italicised like this in quite a few of them, too. If you want them ready-done, let me know. moonlightmead@gmail.com

And don't forget that heliophile_oxen posted covers you can use for specific Pros ( ... )

I've been playing around with using extras in Calibre so the reminder that people have done cover art is most timely :-) I don't really mind the painfully inadequate formatting of yesteryear - as long as I can actually see the print (my eyes, my eyes...) it's sort of nostalgic to when I got on the web and was trying to read Hyperion to a Satyr off the circa 2002 Circuit website.

I've now watched the whole series through since April last year, and find I have various ~opinions now, especially reading some of the old fic, some of which is working for me and some of which is not. Normal day in fandom in other words. I've been reading Meg Lewtan stories but will be moving on to Lainie Stone, yes indeed, and would appreciate recs by all means.

Ah yes. I have found that re-reading some stories on the Kindle rather than struggling through them on the web is an entirely different experience. Same with reading them in zine format - some really are nicer to read on paper. Not all, though ( ... )

First Night is the other 'stingy' Doyle ep - which I'd know because I watched it in all it's remastered glory not so long ago. :-)

Oh WOW what a difference. I don't blame you withering on. I'd be doing the same thing myself. *grins* I bet you're in heaven.

The only sore point is the total lack of anything similar for TS. But those thoughts lead only to tears and foot-stomping so I'll enjoy what I've got. :-)

Isn't it an amazing difference? I love the new DVDs - I hope they manage to do all the eps, and don't give up half way through. I have yet to forgive the one and only legal season of The Sentinel.

Yeah, I'm holding out for the whole lot too - or season 3 at the very least. I'm not sure if them holding off on the actual DVD release of season 2 is a good or bad sign. We shall see. But what we've got is so very nice - I've had a lot of pleasure out of it.
