So that rumour of suspensions was partially true. Apparently a group called Warriors for Innocence has contacted Live Journal demanding that journals which it brought to their attention be deleted because they tout interests which are detrimental to children's safety ( Read more... )

Oh so that's what that was all about... great, just what we need... another bunch of 'do-gooders' who don't understand the concept of child care...in which you actually pay attention to what your child watches on the internet, rather than demand the sites keep themselves under covers...

I've no problem with trying to keep kids safe - but this seems to be very much a shotgun approach, and all and sundry are collecting pellets.

Total agreement.

This has been one hell of a wanky few weeks but this latest twist goes beyond that. LJ was always somewhere I felt safe about being, well, me, kinks and all.

Not so much now and it's left me feeling a lot of emotions, none of them good.

It sure has been wanky and in the sense of fandom with its back against the wall rather than eating its own...

I was on the list to be notified when permanent accounts became available. Likely I couldn't have afforded it anyway, but let's just say it's well and truly off the agenda now...
