"smart" window management?

Sometimes I use my MacBook on the road, but mostly attached to a 24" LCD monitor. When I unplug the Mac from the monitor, it's smart enough to resize windows so they fit on the smaller internal screen. i don't know that i ever had that problem when i switched my powerbook back and forth. what version of OSX are you running? and do you have the macbook open or closed when you plug it back in to the external monitor?

10.5.x, MacBook closed when plugging back in.

Are you saying that when you plug back in it DOES size windows back up? Or maybe do you keep all (most?) windows maximized?

i don't keep the windows maximized, and hadn't noticed them not being proportionally resized when i switched back and forth with the external monitor. but then, i haven't tried since upgrading to 10.5.x - perhaps it's an OS issue.

i'll try tomorrow and get back to you with my results.
