There are so many books that I have reviewed that I didn't care for or find mediocre at best. So I happy to finally be talking about a book series that I hold in high esteem. That is the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead.
This is proff that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover(The covers look so cliche to me); after I'm done with the Sookie stackhouse books, I try these ones out.
I concur with pretty much everything you said (although, I haven't read the fourth book yet - own it, but my TBR pile is massive).
But... it's being made into a movie. Well, the rights have been sold at least, maybe it'll fall through and never happen but if it does, it would be a nightmare if it turned into another Twilight (crappy movie that becomes popular to the point where it just becomes annoying).
Have you read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins?
Yeah Blood Promise was where the series dropped for me as well. I do like the conflict between the Dhamphires wondering if they are slaves or not. But I have to be Team Adrian, Dmitri doesn't do it for me. As for plotting I do like the way she builds tension.
I haven't read Spirit Bound yet, only the first few pages that Richelle Mead put on her website. But I guess I'm just weird because for a while in Frostbite I was shipping Christian and Rose together.
I kind of went off the new teen-vampire books atm. It's not that I think they're all bad, I'm just not as much of as vampire junkie as I used to be (guess Twilight helped with that).
It does seem interesting though, maybe I will pick it up at one point.
How is it doing series wise? (I know books sometimes tend to turn bad when it becomes a long series)

By the way, have you read any of the Sookie Stakhouse novels yet?
