Mice can breed around 4-6 weeks old. Given the timing of the litter it is entirely possible you brought home a pregnant mouse.
Regarding the "questionable" gender mouse, I have seen one male do a pretty good job of appearing female -- but I really think you would have noticed by now if it were male. 9-10 months old isn't old enough to be infertile either, so you'd probably have had some surprises already. I don't know whether there is a specific infertility age range, most responsible breeders wouldn't breed an older doe, and most irresponsible ones probably don't track the age of their breeders.
Good luck with the babies, be sure to give your doe some extra rich treats while she's nursing.
