Fanfic, anyone?

Lately, I've been rereading Leap of Faith atbambu_tales.  I'd forgotten how much fun that story is, with all the letters, the pictures, the book covers, etc.

I've started posting my SSHG Exchange piece, Book Club.  I submitted it to Ashwinder, TPP and OWL at the same time.  I've been able to post up through Chapter 3 so far at Ash, I'm 2nd in the queue to post ( Read more... )

I loved Leap of Faith! May have to go back and re-read it sometime. (as if my to-read list weren't already a mile long!)

I have given up posting at OWL. I've had chapters 4 and 5 of last years(2010) exchange fic, A Balance of Three, sitting in the queue since last Feb. Before that it took several months and emails to get chapters 2 and 3 up, so I have just given up on it. I see some things are still being posted there but they look few and far between, maybe they are validated authors and their stuff doesn't have to wait. So good Luck with that.

FF.net is a bit confusing and has some weird quirks, but once you get used to it, it's not too bad. I'm no expert but feel free to email me with questions. :)

What's happened at OWL is quite sad. It used to be such a great archive. I think a couple of the most active admins had big life changes and had to give it up or cut back or just got burned out. I don't begrudge them that--real life has to come first after all, but I miss it.

Thanks for your offer of ff.net tutoring. I may take you up on it. :)

ff.net is an odd little creature, but once you get used to the quirks it isn't so bad. I have pretty much everything posted there as well, and if madeleone isn't available, I might be able to help. I don't bother with OWL anymore, sadly.

I've never really posted at ff.net because it seems awfully hard to answer reviews and post. But with OWL sort of down and out, I'm thinking about it.

I use AO3 too,(Archive of Our Own: http://archiveofourown.org/users/madeleone) it's a place to post things just to put them somewhere. But then I post at a lot of different places. You don't get a ton of reviews there, but I do get quite a few hits. You used to need an invite, which members could give out--I have a couple-- but I think I read somewhere they weren't required any more.

As far as FF.net goes (Although there is some really awful fic there, being unmodified, there is good stuff there too) One thing I do like about FF.net, is that your fic is available to a huge readership. And you can use their tracking stats to see how many people have hit on your stories and what countries they are from. That's kind of cool. :)

Thanks for all your info about the different archives you use. You've given me quite a bit to think about.
