The Gospel of Mary Magdalene Question

I got a gift certificate for Borders for Christmas, and was thinking of investing in a hard copy of The Gospel of Mary Magdalene. I've been poking around on Amazon, and have seen at least three different versions by different authors: Karen King, Jean-Yves Leloup, and Marvin Meyer, among others. I have the Leloup version and really enjoy it. I've looked at Karen King and Marvin Meyer as well. I think it just depends on which style of writing and explanation you prefer. From what I've gathered, they pretty much cover the same ground.

I would definitely get the Karen King. It, by far, has the most to say about the actual text, the translation of the text, and placing it in historical and religious context. Karen King is the foremost scholar on the Gospel of Mary right now. She dates it to the early 2nd century!

The LeLoup is really popular, but I find that its approach is on the more mystical side of things.

Marvin Meyer's translations are the most beautiful I've read by far, but he doesn't provide as much additional information as Karen King.

Sorry for the late reply, (I'm having major computer problems, and haven't been able to get to a computer.) Thanks for your advice. I'm definitely going to get the Karen King version, as I am interested in the history, and probably the Leloup as well, because I found out that I can get Marvin Meyer through interlibrary loan. Thanks again!

Thanks for your advice! I'm thinking of getting the King for the history, and the Leloup for the mystical. Thanks again.
