i do like johnny cash. i think i like him because my parents just always listened to his records when i was younger. i would say that my intrest in country music is pretty much about the "outlaw" type people, mostly because my dad also had those records. country music now is for the most part lame and shitty. but older country is far more listenable on the whole, much like pop and other genres of music, it keeps getting shittier as time goes on. i did have to watch a lot of CMT at my last job and there were a few songs that i thought were good, but mostly they were either hilarious or horrible. dolly parton will always be awesome though hahah.. oh yes

i think a lot of people like johnny cash because for some reasons it's a "cool" thing to do.. especially when his cover of nine inch nails' "hurt" out, lots of "hip" kids decided that it made them look too to list johnny cash as a musical intrest. its sort of sad that way. whatever floats your boat.

I do like Johnny Cash. I'm not sure why, but I just do. I like other country music, too, like Patsy Cline (who I grew up listening to because my mom likes her). I don't like contemporary Shania Twain-type stuff, though. I can't really answer your last question, but it's interesting. I guess the whole "outlaw" thing probably has a lot to do with it.

i like johnny cash, in fact i've always had. not necessarily because he's "hip" (a reason why some of my peers have taken in into their record collection), but because i honestly enjoy his work. and hank williams sr as well.

the fact that many preface their love for the man in black with the words "i don't like country but i do..." is probably because country music seems to have a stigma against it. and most of the contemporary acts (i'm fairly certain the poster before me cited shania twain) are shite.

most of my musical canon has music from the indie-rock persuasion which does have roots in country music. i'm a fan of alt-country, of rockabilly.

i adore the mountain goats and my latest acquisition: shelby lynne.

i have no reason, other than it pleases my ears and i follow what they want. and they want johnny cash.

I love johnny cash. I think mostly because really...that's what I grew up with.
johnny and patsy and merle and marty robbins and the list goes on and on. oh! and conway twitty. I shed many a tear when he passed away.
I love country music. that's my dad, in a nutshell. he's a musician/jack of all trades/superman.
I'm thankful that such wonderful music has always been such a huge part of my life:)
