Trouble down under

Okay, I'm hearing that people are not finding the book in Australia, with a few exceptions, so I wanted to check up and see how that's going. I haven't heard back about it from my end yet, but what it sounds like to me is that the books just haven't arrived yet (although I'm a little disturbed that some of these stores don't even seem to know that ( Read more... )

My friends in book retail (in the States) say that they almost never known what corporate is going to send to them in any week's shipment, so I wouldn't be too concerned about stores not knowing that it's on its way.

Over here(in Northern Ireland) there weren't many copies shipped over at all. Most of us had to order off amazon, and then shipping was expensive. Even main stores like Easons had very few copies.

Actually, I haven't looked in the bookshops here yet, mainly because I live around 70 kilometers from one that's like to stock your book. For that reason we were planning to get it off Amazon--but I still wanted to gawk at it on the bokshop shelves and was kind of looking forwards to maybe finding it in Geelong.

I hope you get it sorted out. Parcels take SO LONG to get between America and Australia, for some reason, that quite often people end up collecting insurance and having another lot sent--only to have the late parcel arrive shortly before the replacement.

It sucks, except that, of course, you get TWO lots of books for the price of one.

i knew there had to be a reason why i coudn't find the book anywhere in the shops. one likely explanation is that customs here have been having a terrific time clearing inbound sea shipments because of a wonderful new computerized processing system that's delayed stuff for weeks on end.

i already have my copy of the book, but that's because i preordered it once i heard it was coming here. oddly enough what i got was the UK version of the book, and it arrived 5 days before the official release date. perhaps there's no specific edition for Australia? anyway, keep asking at your local bookstores folks, and ask them if the books can come in by air. you're chances of getting the book are better this way.

meanwhile, i'll keep looking out for the books on store shelves.

Of *course*, I'd completely forgotten about that.

*cheerfully blames it all on customs*

(I have two on order from the Co-op Bookshop, because they actually had it in their system. Dymocks did, too.)

My gf and I went into two major retailers and one smaller one about a week ago and none of them had the book on their system. Seeing as I live in the Melbourne CBD, I was a little surprised. I haven't looked again yet but I might whilst I'm out and about today.

*covets the book*
