Seconds Before Dawn: Melting the Ice

Summary: Vida and Xander finally have that talk they have been meaning to have.

“So….”
“So?”
Vida shifted uncomfortable in her chair. She never thought it would be this hard to talk to Xander. But it was.
“I miss you.”
“I miss you too.”
He ran his hand through his hair. His eyes darted from her to the window. Suddenly, something in his eyes changed when they turned back to her.
“You know…I tried dating other people. Didn’t work you know. It was just wasn’t you two.”
She wouldn’t lie that the honestly hurt. But it felt refreshing in a way.
“There was this song….It reminded me of us. I got so upset. I threw my Ipod.”
It was almost funny on how his eyes widen at her.
“You must have been pissed. That Ipod is like a holy object to you.”
She burst out laughing.
“It is. It is.”
The laughter died down and silence took over again.
“What happened to us, V?”
“I…don’t know.”
She went over it in her head for months that they were apart. Every word…every action. All of the angry.
“How do we fix it?”
“I don’t know. Chip was always the emotional one of us.” She said with a grin. Her grin slipped from her face. She missed him too. Just as much as she missed Xander. She worried about him. They haven’t heard a thing. It scared her. She hated being scared. She hated to think that the last things she said to him were in angry. She would do anything to take it back.
Xander looked down at his hands.
“I miss him too. He left me a note. I think he knew that he wasn’t coming back.”
That little fact pissed her off like hell. Knights were mystic as hell. Their half ass answers aren’t cutting when she kept asking about Chip. She knew they knew and they told Chip. Damn bastard…when he comes back, she going to kick his ass. Then she will pin him to the ground to show him how much she missed him.
“I think so.”
“I don’t know about you…but that tickle me off.”
“We can do something about that later when he comes back.”
“Tie him up?”
“Make him listen to 80s metal music?”
Xander started laughing.
She smiled softly. They still had a long way to go but it would work out in the end. She would make sure of it.
