1. There is an Elementary rolling remix! if you're into that sort of thing. (it sounds awesome, but I'm two seasons behind at this point)

2. I really need to stop whining mentally about how behind I am and just actually, y'know, catch up on everything (off the top of my head, that includes: POI, Elementary, Sleepy Hollow, Orphan Black, Motive, ( Read more... )

sff:haven, adventures in audioland, sff:random tv

They said the same ting at gallifrey wen I was there really sga. They also said at a different time that they understood that the holmes audio were selling to doctor who fans who like holmes - seemed like an obvious extrapolation there. Doctor who fans mostly aren't sga fans.

Ahh. I am unsurprised.

And there's somecrossover from SGA to DW (usually the SGA-BSG-DW route, but).

I think the bigger difficulty might also be that DW, B7, etc. lend themselves really well to audio drama, but SG... doesn't. And while I think Farscape (and, ok, Haven, Lost Girl and possibly a few of the other recent SF offerings) lends itself well to audio-only, that's still a bit niche.

Like, Star Trek would be what I'd compare the DW phenom to, in the sort of "beloved of people for half a century" terms.

In some ways, it's a bit comparing apples to tree frogs - the properties are vastly different in some aspects and in the ways fandom (and the general public) engages with them.

Er, which is a long-winded way to say BF should obviously make Farscape audio plays with Ben and Claudia and Brian Henson should do Labyrinth plays.

I would not recommend catching up on Sleepy Hollow, tbh. Season 1 was excellent but it went very much downhill after that. Season 2 was a hot mess, plot-wise, and the writers decided to push Abbie/Jenny/Frank to the side in favor of Ichabod's family. Season 3 was much better, imo, but it ended in the worst way imaginable and not even my eternal love for Jenny could get me to watch season 4.

I would also suggest not watching Lost Girl past season 3. Seasons 4 and 5 were just not good and I only got through them thanks to Zoie Palmer's face.

You did not make a mistake dropping Haven. I wish I had never seen that entire final season, tbh.

40 books in less than two months is damn impressive, if you ask me. Then again, I'm an extremely slow reader so I usually only manage 40 books (or less) for the whole year.

Sleepy Hollow always makes me so terribly sad. It had such promise - a great premise, two leads with good chemistry (shippy or not), a good supporting cast, and a vast well of mythology to pull from ( ... )

Yeah, it's rare to see a group of writers/show-runners destroy a show as badly as this lot did. The first season wasn't perfect, but it was good. Seasons 2 and 3 just...weren't. It's like the writers in season 2 were determined to eliminate everything people loved about the first season and add in a bunch of nonsense no one cared about. Season 3 was better but still...so much wasted potential.

If you do continue with the show and you make it until the end of season 3, maybe don't watch the season finale? At least without spoiling yourself for what happens because it's just too rage-inducing.

Sadly, Dyson remains annoying through the entire series, though he didn't bother me quite as much in the last two seasons. I guess because the show pretty much dropped the triangle and let Lauren and Dyson because friends. It was weird but it made him more tolerable, at least.

I could've forgiven Haven for the crappy storylines - at least in seasons 1-4 - if they hadn't killed almost all of the women. Alas...

I had a comment, bu t my connection crashed. But. I am sure other people amply said what I was going to say about Stargate fandom and obvious reasons the fans burned out and got bitter.
