I'm not that keen on this Doctor so far. They started on a bad note with launching straight into unsubtle take thats to their audience with their `He's still the Doctor, stop whining' and "I'm not your boyfriend" and `Stupid puddinghead humans'. If they want to portray him a different way from the way he has been in his recent incarnations, fine, but blatantly insulting your audience isn't the way to go.

It seems like a mixture of One and Three to me in terms of how he's being played. The Doctor should have grown as a person since then, even if he does need a morality pet (pointed out previously in canon, repeatedly, that companions have acted for him as this). But when Clara says she doesn't know whether he's a good person, but that he's trying and that's what counts, she pinpoints the problem. He isn't trying. In his own words, she's there to care so he doesn't have to. And when he stops caring, that's when he ceases to be the Doctor.

I think in some ways that Moff is sort of soft-rebooting entirely. So Twelve is very One, yes.

And One was pretty much an asshole, so it doesn't really bother me (and we could have had it worse. Six did try to strangle Peri that one time).

There's also the fact that the Doctor is not human and never has been - some of them have been better at portraying that lack of compassion/caring. One, Three, Four, Six, Seven - all of them have had their moments of not seeming to get things (and Seven once shoved his companion into her worst nightmare for her own good ( ... )

See, I liked Eleven's compassion and his belief that everyone was important, and I also liked that he was self-aware that he was also an asshole - and that River kicked him in the face with that fact more than once. (RIVER.)

Ten bothered me, mostly because I hated that Time Lord Victorious thing. And the Lonely God thing. Is it wrong that I thought Ten needed to get over himself?

Moff is a bit clumsy on the rebooting the Doctor into being more like he used to. A bit. But I got through the regeneration crisis ep (it was okay, not great, but not terrible) and now I'm all excited for them in a way I wasn't after Amy and Rory left. I think Clara really came into her own with Twelve and during the 50th anniversary special, which helps me a lot. She really is good with about any incarnation we've seen thus far.

Wait, which St. Trinian's actor did I not notice on Doctor Who? Wait, Journey! Journey was Bianca! Damn it, I wish she was a companion. I love her a lot.

I wouldn't have minded her joining - crowded TARDISes are hard to juggle, but still fun. Also, she and Clara seemed to get along fine. Also, Twelve needs more annoyances.

(at least in my head she is now hanging out with Oswin the Dalek, who was obviously rescued from the Asylum ages ago by wibbly-wobbly nonsense)

Crowded TARDISes have actually been the most fun for me, adventure-wise, even though I know it's hard for the writers to give attention to the right people. Plus, Journey wasn't afraid of speaking up to the Doctor, which is, to me, the number one criteria for a companion.

(She can hang out with Oswin the Dalek. Oswin the Dalek was awesome. Hey, maybe Clara the Governess is hanging out in whatever-heaven-is with Missy?)

Well, in unfinished fic, Oswin is hanging out with the War Doctor.

It should be fairly easy for me to extrapolate later things like her running into Journey. (even a Dalek needs a retirement plan. She can't go around knocking out Dalek prison camps for the rest of her life)

(I'm about two-thirds finished, so I don't think mentioning it will jinx it. I hope.)

Oh, you're listening to Eight audios too? I started listening to his adventure with Charley but got so inexplicably bored after a while. Maybe I should give it another try... Care to share some preferences? What's the good stuff? (LOL, sorry, I've been collecting recs left and right lately...)

She is excellent in any audio she graces (I want to say there's a Sixth Doctor one she's in as well, but I'm blanking on the title).

Also, I keep reminding myself that I don't need to buy the Mary Tamm Romana audios. And yet, I keep almost doing it (BUT ROMANA 1.....)
