ficlet: BSG, Kara/Sam, untitled, vaguely smutty, R

set during Faith, iirc.

Kara didn't remember who said what stupid thing, just that it made her lash out at him. His hand caught her wrist and she jerked, trying to free herself. Like cats, they struggled for an instant until he slammed her up against the bulkhead.

With him pinning her in place, she felt anger flash through her even more. Her head came up to yell at him, but the words died in her throat at the intensity in his eyes. Sam looked lost and broken in a way that made the world drop out from under her feet. Her husband wasn't supposed to look like that. He was supposed to be solid, dependable, safe. That's why she married him, after all.

"Sam--"

"Don't--" the shutters dropped and he pulled away from her. "Just don't, Kara."

Feeling shaken, Kara grabbed for him, fingers digging into his shoulders as she pushed up on her toes. I will lead them to their doom. She nuzzled his neck, trying to blot out the memory of the hybrid with something else. "Don't what, Sam?" Her voice was taunting again, pushing at him.

It was the Demetrius all over again, except it wasn't Earth that pulled at her anymore. Sam made a noise, then kissed her, mouth hot and sucking at hers, as though a part of him were trying to obliterate its own nemesis.

Kara stepped back into the bulkhead, feeling the cold of the metal dig into her skin when Sam fell into her, body heavy. Heat flashed up her skin, chasing the cold and uncertainty away, and she wondered if it would always be like this between them. Anger, desperation, driving them into a kind of madness. Her fingers were gentle when she stroked them through his hair, missing the longer ends.

A growl from Sam surprised her, and then his mouth was moving, insistent, teeth dragging along her neck. The pain made her flinch, her nails digging into his scalp.

"Harder," he whispered, before he bit down on her shoulder.

Anger was easy, and Kara shoved at him, getting some distance so she could pull his tanks up. Her nails dug into his skin and he shivered, head down and eyes closed.

She wanted to ask him what was wrong, but didn't. They don't talk, they don't ask, not now. Not with Earth and the Cylons, with this crazy frakking mission, with Lee, with a thousand other things between them. Kara went for his pants, fingers shoving beneath his waistband, pressing her body against his. "Sam."

I feel like I'm hovering outside of myself-- Sam moved, mouth on her shoulder again, hands under her shirt, fingers digging into her muscles.

The bulkhead, again, and Kara moaned, arching into him, legs sliding to either side of his.

It took too long to get her pants open, and they half-fought for the upper hand before Sam dropped down, yanking her boot off, his mouth sucking at her belly.

Pants off, underwear down--Kara pulled at his head, pulling his mouth back to hers as his hands slid under her ass.

Awkward, she almost knocked him over, trying to get the angle right.

"Faster."

There were Cylons who would come looking for them soon, people who would demand to know what their course of action was. Kara was desperate to blot them out, to blot everything out. I died...

Harder, faster, more, words they gasped and growled at each other. Kara shuddered into climax, first, scraping her fingers up Sam's back, feeling grounded for an instant. Sparks slithered along her skin, sweat soaked her hair, but sagging back against the wall, Sam still thrusting into her felt more like reality than anything else in the past hours.

It was like waking up, and she clung to the feeling before it slipped away again.

"Kara--"

"Don't. Don't say anything, Sam." Don't ruin the moment, though what he could say to destroy them both, she didn't know. She wanted to laugh at her sudden paranoia, even as he pulled away.

Dressing was like putting on armor, closing herself away from his eyes and shutting down that moment of sympathy between them. She still had Earth to find, she still had a mission to complete. She still had the human race to lead to its destruction.

"Captain Thrace?" Natalie.

Kara moved to go and Sam's hand touched hers. "We'll find Earth."

The trust in his words made her shiver a little. Blind faith had never done anyone good.
