Another Tea Review: Cylons for Breakfast - Feeling Human

Dec 10, 2013 21:14

It's 45F out, going down to 33F tonight, and my body seems to think it's cold. Well, at least I am able to get warm today as opposed to the last two days in a row. I think my hormones are being PCOSy weird. Still, I needed to warm up--and there is one more gift tea to review. And then I could start on other teas, if only for my reference or to ( Read more... )

I love black tea! (Though I admit that I buy cheap tea bags for iced tea, because I can't taste the differences as well cold.)

I love Assams and Darjeelings. Ceylons, so far, I'm not sure I could even place.

Pu erhs are my special darlings, though. I love the different flavors of earthiness they have. We got one once at Tao of Tea that they said wasn't very popular, I can't remember the name. We all thought it tasted like wet fall leaves in rich dark loam -- though I was the only one who said that in a good way. :D

Interesting! I love Assams (for malty full-bodiedness) and Darjeelings (for the lighter side of black) too, but Pu Erh kills me. I just can't like the earthy -- same reasons oolongs don't do it for me. Every so often I try it again anyway, and it never really works for me.

Huh. I also dislike oolongs, but they taste nothing like pu erhs to me. They (usually) have a metallic tang that I hate.

I have a good friend that's married to a Brit, so last Christmas they gave me a box of English breakfast tea from Bettys (and Taylors of Harrogate) over the pond. It's seriously wonderful. If brewed correctly, there is almost no bitterness and just a smooth strength. However, because I've cut out a lot of caffeine from my diet, any time I drink a cup I'm wired! The very little caffeine has definitely cut down on any black tea drinking for me.

That sounds lovely. thewronghands gave me some Barry's tea, nice, strong, Irish black tea that puts hair on your chest, and I love it for mornings where I have to move but the rest of me refuses to do so.

Maybe try greens instead?

Next time I send you tea, I will try to remember to send you a little pure Assam and a little pure Darjeeling so you can taste the wonderfulness in each. [grin] I'm a pusher.
