I just can't win. I know some guys use girly icons, but I thought mine was retro/girly enough to be considered separate from that sort of thing.

Writing style and avatars don't have much to do with it, I guess. I mean your icon does (obviously) strike me as girly. But some guys might be into that sort of thing too? Maybe. Haha.

Yeah, I dunno. It's not that big a deal, I suppose. I just wonder why someone would assume some thing in the face of so much evidence against. Maybe it is the no-girls-on-the-internet thing...

Maybe they're just fangirls hoping against hope that there is at least one guy on the forum because then they could fantasize that he liked the same manga they do and they could squee with joy and then they just assume that everyone is a guy to fulfill their wishful thinking. Or something like that. What forum is this anyway?

Hahaha. No, it was another guy (I just checked-it'd be pretty bad if I assumed he was a guy and I was wrong too), and it was a post I'd made about a bug I was having with the site (mangaupdates.com, where I keep track of all the scanlated manga I read and hope to read and already have read). I think (hope (REALLY hope)) that when I make manga-related posts, my girliness is apparent enough to all who read.

I wish there were guys who liked more of the same manga I like... but I don't think there can be too many of them, if any.

Clearly, you need an avatar with shojo sparklies all over it. Animated ones. That form the words "I'M A GIRL. NO REALLY." With..hm. What's the girliest anime? OH WAIT! Yes! I have it! The swirly rosepetals from Ouran! I think they come already doused in sparklies! HA!
