More Charing Cross

Since I have a joyously unexpected half an hour free, have some quotes from 84, Charing Cross Road. (I expect I'll watch the film soon and post about it and then you all will get sick of me posting so often.)

Now you're making me want to re-read 84, Charing Cross Road but when I went to look for it I remembered loaning it to a friend a couple years back. I bet they don't have it any more.

Aah, that sucks. I like to think of such books as maybe having found a good home somewhere.

Book's are not sacrosanct, no, but there are a huge number of stories that I *do* read again, and again and again. So I keep them for that very purpose. The ones I read once and never intend on reading again, they get given to people who will enjoy the story and then pass it along once more :)

Yeah, I think it's a good rule of thumb to keep the books one plans to read again and give the rest away. :-)

I love both the book and the movie! It's one of those I'd never throw away, because I find myself coming back to it again and again...

I need to watch the movie ASAP! I can totally see myself coming back to this book over and over, too. <3

Since I've decided (much like Helene Hanff herself, lol) that I'm going to read books before buying them, I read the ebook first. I'm happy to share, if you want. ;-)

It's basically a real life ode to books and people who love them, so, yeah. <3
