Fic: The Exiles (Petunia/Charlie)

My hp_beholder fic. This is my favourite exchange ever! And I'm fairly proud of my story and its response, despite the fact that I was expecting only florahart (my recipient) to get back to me. I was delighted by the response, actually :).

I'm totally swamped right now but soooooo excited to read this eventually. *bookmarks*

Posting and deleting because this is perhaps the most pathetic comment ever. *sheepish* M.

For some reason it won't let me delete. *sigh* Sorry, sweetie. M.

I've had the same problem on other people's journals. Not to worry, and I look forward to hearing what you think when you have time to read!

Oh lovely. I really enjoy stories that show you Petunia as a human being and not just a pantomime wicked stepmother. I felt really glad she had her fling with Charlie. Perhaps she'll get some gumption once she goes back and leave Vernon.

Thank you! I always enjoy humanising Petunia based on the hints we're given in canon.

Oh, how beautiful, and perfectly structured. You write so well.

Thank you, and I'm glad the structure worked! Originally the beginning was much slower, but I switched the first two sections around at the last minute.

Oh, I love this all over again!

Do you know how much I admire that you made Petunia totally IC, but still likeable? Quite a feat. Your Vernon is completely awful (in the perfect way).

Your Charlie is wonderful. He's real and kind and clearly just what Petunia needed. I love that neither of them regret it, but they both know it was just for then.

Um...Fred. *sniff* Charlie's reporting of the battle was so sad and subtle. Really lovely.

Thanks again for your help! I've always enjoyed writing Petunia, and I completely have a crush on this Charlie. *g*

Also, I'm so glad the reveal is out, because I've been waiting for ages to rec your fic!

Oh! How do you DO it? This pairing? I never would have thought! And it's so lovely and tender and unflinching and heartbreaking! Just... incredible.

Thank you! I must give florahart at least half the credit for the pairing, since she said she liked Charlie with nearly anyone. *g* But I'm so glad you liked it - I rather enjoy humanising Petunia once in a while.

On an unrelated note, where did the quote in your icon come from? It seems so familiar...

The icon and quote are from a short, fabulous HP/Molesworth crossover: Ho for Hoggwarts by Alice Dryden. Well worth a read, although it'll take a bit of adjusting to the spelling if you haven't read the Molesworth books :).

Um, I'm about to friend you back (hi!), but you might want to ignore the last two flocked posts on my journal. And yes, I realise that now you're going to go straight over there for a look anyway. I just feel the need to point out that my journal isn't always like this. *facepalm*
