Bit of a random post, sorry

A few years ago, you'd have been lucky to catch me wearing jewellery of any kind; I had one bag that got dragged around with me wherever I went, except in the evenings when everything I needed got stuffed in my coat pockets; and one woolly scarf for when it was extra cold ( Read more... )

Heh, make-up is one thing I've pretty much given up on recently. Hmm...

Love that Stone Roses song. And Loreena McKennitt too. I'm like that with music. I was rather shocked, actually, to discover that many people connect more with lyrics. I don't even listen to them mostly (in part because I listen to so much foreign music and I can't understand them anyway). I may know them by them seeping into my brain from listening, but I listen for the sound, for the way notes fit together, for transcendent combinations or purity. It becomes body when it lifts your soul high enough.

Yeah, I recently saw a few people on LJ talking about music in terms of, "of course, I connect with the lyrics more - I'm a writer", and that makes sense, but it's not what music means to me. I mean, if I want lyrics, I'll read a poem :).

Obviously I forgot to finish that comment! What I meant to say was that this:

It becomes body when it lifts your soul high enough.

This post was fab - and I've teetered on the edge of turning into a girl (and getting vicariously interested in clutche-purses and necklaces and rings) but haven't quite done so. I like the idea of being dressed and accessorised elegantly but...yeah, not sure if that will ever happen! :P What kinds of jewellery have you found you like? Chunky stuff? Silver/gold? I tend to like beaten silver things, or metallic stuff in general, more than things with stones/gems. *cough* When I wear jewellery at all, that is.

I like whatever my friends send me. *g* But yes, I like dull silver stuff (mainly because I seem to turn proper silver black fairly quickly), and fairly thin chains with pendanty things. See, I don't even have the vocabulary for this!
