So, a good number of people know I dislike blueberries. Part of it is that I have a strong dislike for blue food that started off with dislike of artificial colouring and sort of devolved into a general dislike of foods that stain my mouth, with a strong emphasis on blue for some reason.

The other reason is that to me blueberries just don't taste ( Read more... )

Um.. gotta disagree with you. Blueberries are delicious. And also.. what kind of blueberries are you eating that they stain your mouth? I eat blueberries all the time (in fact over break I ate them with breakfast every single morning) and I have never once encountered this phenomenon. Perhaps they're shipping you fake blueberries with artificial dye down there in Houston? ;)

What cilantro thing? Cilantro (read: coriander in the UK) is the single greatest herb for adding maximum flavor to a variety of dishes!

Wait, so in the UK they call both the plant and the seeds coriander? Interesting, especially since they don't taste anything alike.

The "cilantro thing" is the phenomenon that there is a strong contingent of people for whom cilantro tastes soapy (and bad). It's most likely genetic.

Yeah, it's weird. For the seed, it's usually just called "ground coriander" (assuming that you're buying it in a jar at the supermarket) and the non-fresh leaf is labelled "dried coriander".

I didn't know that it tasted soapy to some people! Weird.
