In a fit of madness I ordered some books from Amazon yesterday, some from the recommendations I asked for long ago (Pamela Dean's Tam Lin, Naomi Novik's first dargon book), one by necessity (Northanger Abbey), and some I've just been meaning to read for reasons pure and perverse (War for the Oaks, Twilight). Oh, Tam Lin. That book's setting was based on my college, yay! Needless to say, my experience was not much like the protagonists'...

I warn you: Twilight has sparkly vampires. You have probably heard of this, but everyone I know doesn't think it's going to be as bad as it is until they actually get to that point in the book and are like "... when you said 'sparkly vampires', I didn't think you MEANT IT."

HOORAY TAM LIN. I hope you like it. And I enjoy the Temeraire books, they're fun. Personally I love Northanger Abbey for being sharp satire in a frilly petticoat, but I know some people are not on board with Austen.

Every time I see Twilight I go "Oh, that's the one with the sparkly vampires." I await your opinion with bated breath.
