I do the same thing; I'll post something meaningful - be it thoughts or updates about personal life stuffs - I'll get one or two comments.

if I post ONE WORD, just a random word - it can get anywhere from twenty to fifty or so responses. I had proven this point on a few occasions.

I would have commented, but I'm way behind on other peoples' journals. Seriously. I'm even behind on my own journal. I haven't always replied to comments right away, and the stuff I've been posting lately is stuff I meant to post some time ago. I haven't even made any entries yet about some of the drama and whatnot that's been going on very recently.

I'll get around to your poems though.    :)
