The Learning Curve

I've been trying to learn how to turn my shaggy (but happy being shaggy) little Lizzie into a recognizable Australian Terrier.  People stop to ask whether she's a Cairn, a Yorkie, or "look Mom, Toto", everything but the little Aussie that she is.   Her incognito status is twofold:  Australian Terriers aren't that common a breed, and she hasn't been ( Read more... )

She was suppossed to be a show dog (conformance) but turned out to be too 'soft', meaning she didn't have an assertive, I'm-the-best-there-is attitude. I had been searching for a rescue, discovered this breed, and in the process, found out that the breeder wanted to rehome this little girl (very good, ethical, show breeder). She has turned out to be a perfect fit and, now, is quite a confident little dog.

She's been through two levels of obedience, a tricks class, a an agility-for-fun class, and after all that training, I'll bet you can guess who really has who wrapped around her little paw :)

What a Sweetie. Yeah - terriers have always been my favorite. The picture here is of my special boy - he was mostly Cairn. He passed away in Sept. '99; he was 15. It was six years (almost exactly) before I could bring another dog home.
