That is healthy water; it's duck weed, perfect shelter for the small fishes that herons love. There were at least a dozen herons along the stretch of the Holland from where we slipped in and where the west and east forks converge. Plus osprey, turns and grebes; lots of feathered fisherfolk making their living on the water.
The boys all caught something; I prefer to hunt through a lens over putting in a line.
I don't know why it feels like such an effort at times to go for a walk; it's just a matter of stepping out the door. But I understand - I don't seem to get outside unless it involves driving for several hours first.

A day on the water certainly helped; getting away for four days in a tent next fortnight will help even more.

There must have been some open water nearby in the same lake or watercourse. Catch any fish, yourselves, or was it about that at all?
