Have you read/heard about the newspaper article about Cohen asking for no more recordings to be made of Hallelujah? What do you think about it.
Someone posted a link to an article about it on FB and I have to admit, I got a little huffy. Of course, I'd read it wrong at first and wasn't thinking "no more recordigs" but "no more singing" and that irked me. I agree that it's prayer. It's one of my favorites actually and makes it's way into my ritual space quite often.
*heh* Well... I don't disagree with him. It's an incredibly personal song, and I'd get very tired of hearing it sung by every Tom, Dick and Harry, too.
I'm also an elitist snob who really looks down on artists who rely on cover songs rather than original music in general, so take that into account.
