Week 8 Livejournal

hey hey!!!!!!!!!

This week we have been looking at Orwell's "1984". A really scary book. Scary not only becuase of the devastating conditions in which people "live" in, but also because of it's frightening parallels to our own society. While we may not have secret cameras watching our every move, there are people and things that try to tell us ,or " ( Read more... )

In 1773, Thomas Jenkins said "A one-minded society, is the closest utopia our world will ever reach." This was under the well thought out basis, that a one-minded society can only be subject to a monolateral way of thinking; id est (i.e) things such as crime rates can only soar down due to no-one breaking the law, as no-one will think to. Albert Einstein also said "if our society was like a pack of wolves, there would be a familial strength uniting all as one." You probably won't understand this, so let me explain. Wolves are united in their thinking in all ways of life, whether it be on how to hunt, mate or most evidently, in their united howl. Hence, the wolves represent unity. Therefore, Einstein is saying, if society was united under the same thinking as a pack of wolves, we would actually be STRONGER as humans rather than conformed and trapped. This is actually the opposite of what you have written if you didn't realise.

To conclude, you're wrong!! HAHAHAHA NANANANA!!!!

This is from Chris Fajou's friend, Anonymous is Chris Fajou.
The Media is controlled, you don't realise that do you? Another thing, is Christianity. The Bible influences people like parental influence, not only media..
About your [creative works is not included in the definition of "cool" so is disregarded.] The term "Cool" is for losers like you (since loser AFFECTS you so much, you MUST be a loser). Call me a loser and I don't care, because reflect on the word loser, what are you actually losing at? Nothing.
What the word you were looking for, that the "media" has influenced upon us, is stereotyping the attractive people.
By the way, there are way more texts than Orwell's "1984".

thanks everyone for your comments on my entry. But next time I would appreciate it it you din't patronise me. I like you comment about what "cool" is and what "loser" is. Obviuosly you are a strong minded, if not arrogant person, and are aware that terms like"cool" and "loser"mean nothing. But think back to primary school or even high school. How important were these terms then. As this is the age group I am refering to it also makes your point about Christianity slightly irrelevent. people at this stage in life are less likely to to conform to the influence of the bible or their parents ( and before you try to argue with me again, I am aware that this is a generalisation and their is a minority that do conform to your mentioned influences)

please feel free to try to argue with me again :)but like I said earlier, your patronising comments are not necessary.

thanks 0001230185288 and I think you are right about this anonymous/ Chris Fajou person and their confusion of conformity with unity. Unity is great! I have nothing against that, but conformity... that is where I have a slight problem. lol
thanks again :)

Actually, when one is called a ‘Loser’ they ARE in fact losing, as they are missing out on social acceptance…
Also, on your comment about ‘Media’, on the flip side, even media can be seen as a creative expression, for example, fashion, T.V. shows, music and so on… They are all a forms of creativity. It is the people who are not creative that follow the trends set by such “Media” which are not necessarily good, yet not necessarily bad either…
I shall take a leaf from the Ramsey fan book and quote Plato, “Dictatorship naturally arises out of democracy, and the most aggravated form of tyranny and slavery out of the most extreme liberty.” Orwell is very right… The question is, what are any of you going to do about it?

Excuseth Thine!!!
Doth not Shakespeare saith: "Whereth be the skies, or thine seas, or thee trees, or thee bees, my heart will be Scotland's, and my mind will be England's, i will be greater than Great Britain, by being one with it." Doth thine pitiful mind noteth understand? Thoughteth so! Explaineth shall thou! Shakespeare implieth that one's mind becometh great only when thou unifies it to society! Like being calledeth a loser: loser is used to calleth one, who doth noteth something within social expectations, sucheth Paganism. Thateth why all Pagans are losers whoeth huggeth many trees! Doth thine understand? Probably noteth, but i wouldnt wanteth to hurtheth thine silly little brains!

firstly, just becuase Shakespeare said it it doesn't mean it is right, perhaps if we thought for our selves we wouldn't have this arguments. but I also think that your interpretation of shakespeare's quote is just one of many. secondly, you seem to have confused unity with conformity (yet again). And thirdly, I think that your ideas about Panganism" belong back in the Shakespearean era. We live in such a diverse society today, one with many cultures, religious beleifs and even sexual orientations. Your comment that someone who does not fit into societies expectations is a loser infuriates me. I have to ask you not to comment on my page again.

"firstly, just becuase Shakespeare said it it doesn't mean it is right" - You

Umm actually : "For wateva thine says, goeth, for i knoweth all, and writeth pure knowledge" - Shakespeare

Clearly that implies whatever shakespeare says is correct, for he says it himself.

"I have to ask you not to comment on my page again."

That is social segregation! I will not be segregated! You segregate the people that prove you wrong? Well then, why don't we just segregate everyone? Shove them on the moon! I will not tolerate this nonsense!

Perhaps I’m misinterpreting you both but are you criticizing the author or the ideas? As although some of the ideas you present are very intellectual, they are tainted but what seems to be (at times directs attacks on the original author. Why? Is it to prove a point, to provoke or just to have a go?
I also find it interesting that you have quoted Shakespeare as saying “For wateva thine says, goeth, for i knoweth all, and writeth pure knowledge" considering he also stated “A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.” (Not calling you a liar but out of interest) where is it from? One of his plays?
P.S Reading lyndals replies to people who have disagreed with her on other entries, I think the reason lyndal may have asked you not to comment on her page is due your manner rather than the matter of your argument (however I can only talk from my point view)
