The "are you sure you weren’t dropped on your head as a child?" tone is one I sadly know all too well *g*.

Willow's confidence in Gibbs is lovely, as is Xander's concern. And I can just see Xander delivering a stern lecture to Gibbs on Willow's wellbeing then standing aside for Buffy to do the actual hurting :-)

Xander always looks out for his bestest friend, even if that requires the gratuitous use of third party slayer strength. :)

I'll be interested to see your take on Gibbs getting to know Xander (and vice versa). There are so many different ways that it could go. We already know Gibbs is a strong character but so's Xander when it comes to the right issues. And Willow's safety and happiness is definitely right up there at the top of the list! :-) I could see problems if Gibbs' plans for her protection don't satisfy Soldier!Xander, with Gibbs unable to understand where his knowledge is coming from.

Ooh! Bonus points for Xander putting DiNozzo firmly in his place! DiNozzo's sleaziness with women *really* gets up my nose and almost persuaded me not to continue watching NCIS. I *don't* find it funny. Probably wouldn't work here though since he's somewhat subdued due to Kate.

Xander and Gibbs - haven't really thought about it much. This part sort of came up out of nowhere.
Everyone's got *expectations* now...I'm not sure I can live up to the hype. :)

As for DiNozzo, I've always felt that in recent seasons, he's more 'playing the part' than actually being a sleazy womaniser. Like he went to extremes in the first few seasons because it was expected from the image he'd cultivated - and to wind up Kate. But once she was gone, he started to settle down (somewhat). Maybe I'm reaching.

I didn't watch many of the eps beyond the end of S3. Too busy with RL. But I could see what you mean in that he was already toning it down a bit with Zhiva.
