LOL! That pdf was fun. And yeah, the Willow/Spike community has a lot of those squares filled up. What can I say? I love the pairing when done right, but there's just so much of it that is done wrong.
And, as you said, just because a story has one of those cliches doesn't mean it isn't good. The skill of the writer has a lot to do with how much I can forgive in a story. Although, I have to admit, if he grammar and spelling are bad, I have a real hard time looking past that.
Actually, a lot of those squares were taken from stuff over at Twisting the Hellmouth - especially the Mary Sue and Plot Device Cliches. ::sigh::
Yeah, if the grammar and spelling are bad, I usually drop kick the story - or hit the back button.
The really funny part of this whole thing, is that if pressed, I could probably find one good and one bad story for each of those squares (well, maybe not the spelling/grammar/homophone squares).

I've even done the Mary Sue column in one form or another, much to my shame.
