Title: Is This...It?
Word Count: 1612
Rating: PG
Pairing: Junhyung/Hyunseung
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters.
A/N: Just sth I wrote when news about Daesung came out (being a VIP, it is especially awful). I was online at the time and the first news were shocking: It said Dae had been the one to cause the accident and the death. It was quite horrible what went through my head but LUCKILY the clearing articles soon appeared. Imagine...Your favorite idol being quilty in something like that... This exceeds all those ’ankle sprained, disbanding’ etc things. This is serious business. A deal with jail. A deal with ruining a person’s life. And a death of an innocent person (RIP)
A/N2: I'm sorry for all the tense mistakes etc. This was written in a hurry and...I have no other excuses ^^
________
Hyunseung glanced at the clock - it was almost noon and he let out a yawn and closed his eyes for a brief moment once more before rolling slightly towards the edge in habit as Junhyung always kept whining how he hogged up all the space, making him cramped up against the wall, accusing the other in harassing. Or even in sleepwalking to which the other could only shake his head in disbelief. But one thing among all those whines is that Junhyung never does anything more apart from letting out a warm smile and pecks him on the lips softly as if he’s from glass.
Junhyung’s touches are always gentle.
Hyunseung noticed his eyes to be blocked by hair which by the looks of it seemed to be in a big mess. How he always ends up in this situation? He doesn’t know but he can’t help but blame the younger even though he may not be even near. Something about acting this way makes Hyunseung feel close to the other and able to give out a judging look every time the younger would mess up his hair with that perfect grin. It gives him that certain spark in his eyes.
He used to hate messy hair until recently because the younger wouldn’t stop emphasizing how alluring it made him look without any efforts. And he seemed determined to get it into Hyunseung’s skull though it was totally unnecessary as quite many times it ended up Hyunseung being lifted into air and only meeting with the surface of his bed a minute later. Or sometimes Junhyung was in a hurry so they never made it there.
Though the one that looked even better so was Junhyung himself. But of course he always disagrees and tries to get out of the accusations by making his way behind Hyunseung and slowly snaking his arms around the other while nuzzling into the other’s neck. It was something that made him weak in the knees - and Junhyung knew it perfectly.
Similar to every morning, Hyunseung stretches out his hand but this time his eyebrows furrow in disapproval as he doesn’t feel a presence. He found nothing, not even warmth emitting from the younger’s spot.
It was cold.
Hyunseung snapped his eyes open but reality made them close soon again as all the conversations from yesterday finally sank in. They had had a fight. A fight over something pointless he couldn’t even remember. And he doubted even the other did.
It was like a scheduled fight - something that happened every week but was never enough to break them apart. Something that kept the relationship going and advancing. Something that was necessary for the both of them.
Hyunseung got up, not really worrying about it as they are bound to be locked by their lips in the evening anyway. He gave out a chuckle as it was sure there was no other possibility. They both couldn’t stay mad at each other for long and the yearning for the other made them give in.
So he felt at peace.
Hyunseung’s eyes looked around for his phone, only to drop on the ground as he remembered he had left it at Junhyung’s place. He let out a smile as now the younger had now a reason to come back without suppressing his pride which was always difficult but only achievable with Hyunseung involved.
It was clear how it’d go down. They would at first meet each other with serious expressions and Hyunseung would let the other step in, showing indifference which could be felt from the other also. There would be a distance between them which they both would be able to feel but not ready to close yet. It was funny how similar were on some level.
Then Hyunseung would sit down to a place he had chosen for himself already before - a place which would play a major role in the next hours or two and where’d they end up. It was all a strategic play which Hyunseung found himself leading. Though at times it seemed the younger only let him do so as his plans all depended on Junhyung’s co-operation.
Junhyung was a sneaky bastard.
And he loved every bit of it.
Hyunseung got himself a piece of bread and looked over at the coffee cans - when he was alone he drank instant one as the stronger coffee held a special part in his memories. It had played a major part in their meeting and also the progress of their relationship. Hyunseung can never help but let out a chuckle on the thought of that. Something so random for others can play such an important part of who they are now.
He makes his way over to the living room part, turning on the TV in search for company. Silence was always appreciated but for some reason this time it felt suffocating. It was too lonely. The apartment was too big, the rooms felt too empty - everything was wrong. He felt the need for Junhyung’s presence on every level possible. He needed his comforting hugs, his words near his ear with the accompanying breath and reassurance that he’ll be there.
Hyunseung felt himself shivering. It seems he was in a melancholy mood.
But all of his actions stopped as his gaze focused on the morning news. His thoughts froze as he felt his insides go hollow. He didn’t even blink, didn’t let go of the cup nor even breathed as he saw a familiar name at the bottom of the screen.
It was not possible.
Yong Junhyung.
His mind didn’t address the whole text but his eyes memorized every syllable. He couldn’t think, only endless inner torture went through him. He couldn’t stop - regret, sadness, hopefulness and so much more. Every single feeling that put together would break your mental stability. And likewise he felt his breath hitch, not being able to exhale nor inhale properly, there was a burning feeling at the back of his throat as his cheeks were revealed to the chilliness of the air - he didn’t cry tears, it was just water that just poured out. And soon enough he couldn’t even keep his eyes open as it hurt too much. But he still tried as his eyes were glued to the screen.
It’s not like he was dead.
Just a major accident.
Hyunseung grabbed for his phone but cursed as it wasn’t there.
Junhyung. His mind screamed out, blocking every single feeling which still came crashing down that second later.
He couldn’t help his thoughts. He regretted the argument which he had always thought to be important. His mind was full of regrets of what he should’ve done: IF ONLY he had looked over his shoulder once more (he would’ve run back to the other’s embrace) IF ONLY he had given in, making all of this seem like a bad dream and Junhyung would be groaning on the bed from the sun in his eyes.
Right now he would get up slowly, dragging from one leg to another to reach Hyunseung and place a kiss on his forehead. He always refused to touch the lips as he kept insisting on brushing his teeth first. Though at times Hyunseung would be sneaky and get out a coke as he knew the ‘unbeatable’ Joker wouldn’t be able to withstand it and the kiss was secured. A long one, assuring his presence. And also the younger’s feelings who never said anything. Junhyung wasn’t the one to babble out sweet lines, he wasn’t the one to keep going on about how much Hyunseung meant.
There was nothing like that.
But his actions spoke more than thousand words.
Hyunseung felt panic arise; the underline only told that it would be broadcasted immediately if there is any news. But he didn’t have time. How could he… Be here stuck to the screen and waiting…And waiting…Slowly dying inside.
His mind calculated fast at which hospital he should be by the location and hoped it’d be true as he hurried out. Hyunseung didn’t even remember how he got to the hospital but suddenly he was exposed to the white walls and hospital staff walking around, mixed together with the mass of citizens.
Hyunseung couldn’t think straight. He ran to the registration and could only mutter out two words that had occupied his mind entirely:
“Yong Junhyung.” His voice was shaky and if he could notice, he was trembling all over his whole body.
The registration lady looked at him in confusion for a couple of seconds before her expression cleared. Her lips moved but what came out of it, he didn’t know.
Hyunseung couldn’t detect it. The words just ran past his ears as he kept looking at her in anticipation mixed with annoyance which made the lady look at him with a pitiful expression. It made Hyunseung’s insides roar out in almost desperation. He was on the close edge of serious mental breakdown.
No.
No.
The lady said something again which also wasn’t deciphered. His face must’ve looked really in shock as the lady wrote down something fast and gave it to him. Hyunseung looked down at the paper and back up with a questioning gaze but she only nodded and gone he was. At least he could still read.
White walls went past him as he hurried - why did this seem like a drama where the ward is at the far end of the corridor? Hyunseung even heard hospital staff scold him but he didn’t care, he was gone before they could react.
And soon there he was.
178. He looked down at the paper.
This was it.
