What did you do your dissertation on, could you say anything about that?

Can always rely on you to be serious ;)

I think I would be inclined to try and do something that would link in with the job in some way, but you may not have time to prepare anything like that.

I might try and find something like a toy or book that I could talk about and relate it to how it helps a child to learn... something like that?

Or perhaps a talk about a family holiday or activity you had as a child?

I don't know, I'm clutching at straws a bit as I don't know what the job really entails, but perhaps something loosely related to some aspect of it.

I've had a quick look on google, Surestart Outreach Workers (though I realise that's not actually the job you've applied for) do all sorts of stuff, there was something about toy libraries (sorry, library obsession creeping in there) on one site... so my idea might not be too off the wall!

Awww thank you- they are all good ideas :) Though the job itself will not require me to work with children or anything ( ... )

Hmmm, I shall have a further ponder, see if I can think of anything else, unfortunately my mind is so tuned into library stuff it might take a while ;)

I think your choice of topic seems like a good one. I'm always having good chats with my students about gap years, A-Levels and universities (because I pretty much did everything and can offer what I think it great advice on the subject). As long as you make it personal and can be and appear interested (which is hard when you're talking about yourself I realise; I hate having to 'sell' myself, even on paper for jobs), I think you'll be fine.

Awww thank you. So you think to go along the theme of travelling/gap years then? That's sort of what i was swaying towards- but blerh, i don't like interviews!

dan had to do the exact same thing for a job interview..
he randomly did it about ants (maybe because i had bought an antfarm a few weeks before that)
he got the job..
it has nothing to do with the topic i think unless its a really weird one..
just something youre interested in..
i can ask him to dig out his presentation if you like? lol
ps: dont forget the notes youre reading out at home :p

Haha, that would actually be really helpful if he could. At least then i can see how he went about it. So if he doesn't mind and he can find it then that would be great :) That's such a random topic, though. I could probably do it about anything. I think Jemma told me that Nick randomly did a presentation on 'places beginning with Z' haha. It must run in the family.
