First and foremost, I think my reaction can be adequately summed up in OMFGZZZZ TWAS ROSE ON THE SCREEN!! SHE'S CONTACTED THE TARDIS!!! BUT DONNA/DOCTOR DIDN'T SEE!!! WHY OH WHY RTD ARE YOU TORTURING US?! BUT IT WAS ROSE, ROSE, ROSE, ROSE, ROSE = TOTAL SQUEEEEAGE

Right, now I've got that out of my system, a now generally sane review of the episode ( Read more... )

I also have a theory that RTD is going to sadistically torture us and the Doctor by having EVERYONE else see her before he does - thereby building up the tension of the reunion, as everyone will be telling him about Rose/random blonde woman but he personally will be the last to meet her.

This is TOTALLY what's going to happen. DAMN YOU RTD!!!!!

Yay Donna and Wilf and the Doctor and ILU SO MUCH DOCTOR WHO. ♥

ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!! *flailflailflail* :D

RTD likes to torture us - I should know this by now, but it seems he twists us fans that little bit more every time...(shakes fist at RTD LMAO)

I agree with your Rose flailing!!! And the best? I was watching at uni with a room full of people watching too (communal area thing) and everyone gasped when she flickered on screen! It was great :) See, everyone loves Rose (although not many people got the 'are you my mummy' bit. Only about 4 of us laughed - obviously just us hardcore fans remembered/understood :D )

While I did love the Doctor saying goodbye to Donna and Martha (because he takes the moral high ground, which is so him, plus I'm a sucker for sentimental stuff, plus maybe the fact that he never said goodbye to Rose - no, the beach doesn't count - makes him more likely to say goodbye to companions now) I have to totally agree with you here:

- I have to say I really think they've under-used Martha here. SO much more could've been done with the clone, and really it was all a bit rubbish. All she really did was sneak about with a mobile phone. I'm not a massive fan of Martha, but I really think she could've been used for more. And the death scene with the clone, was rubbish in my opinion. So unnecessary.

I'm not a big Martha fan either, first and foremost because I think her character was widely under-developed in S3. And I was really hoping this two-parter would do her justice, and... well, it didn't. And the death scene with the clone? Could've been magnificent. It was just flat in the end. :( It's a shame, because Martha deserves

Quoted for absolute truth - her character was severly underdeveloped when you compare her with the amazing characterisation of Rose (not only was she well rounded and developed, but she had a family we cared about). I did try to like Martha, and although I liked her in Smith and Jones she rapidly went down in my estimation. I hoped that they would continue with her Torchwood development, but she was just...lacking... I hate to say it, I really do (because I liked her in Torchwood!!) but her role to play was distinctly underwhelming.
