Hi, here via geoviki's rec.

I read this story, said to myself, "not bad, not bad at all," and closed the window with the implication that there are many decent h/d fics that appear every day and I'd clearly forget this one in half an hour. Meanwhile, an hour passed, then two, I went to do some things and found myself recalling bits from this fic, again and again. So, no, not "not bad" :) Quite good, actually, methinks :)

Thank you very much!

Wow! Thanks so much. I'm very glad you enjoyed the fic. And I do know what you mean about the many decent (and often spectacular) H/D fics appearing every day. For me as a reader, this fandom feels like a candy store that never closes; for me as a writer, though, it's horribly intimidating. The characters (not just Harry and Draco, ALL of them) have been very thoroughly patrolled, haven't they?

With that in mind, it's great to hear that the fic stuck in your head! My fiction muse has deserted me too often of late, and it's great to hear that when it finally chose to cough something up that the results were enjoyable to a fandom old hand. I'm thrilled that you liked it. :)

Thank you so much for sharing this! I adored your imagery, with the changing seasons that mirrored the tone, and I shivered when Harry dropped that last leaf. Partly because of that same stirring late autumn wind, coming in my window, but mostly because of your rich description. :) And am friending because yay.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. Yes, it's hard to avoid the angst bunnies when it's fall outside, isn't it? And I'm glad you liked the description; description is one of my little obsessions. Funny how description gives you a feeling of power, when it works (which it usually doesn't), a feeling of creating a world in your head. I'm delighted to hear that it worked for you.

Friend away! *friends back* I love new friends. :)

I saved this to read weeks ago, and finally got around to it last night. Wow! I loved the imagery you used here, and the "Autumn" segment twisted me up in all sorts of good ways. Fantastic, wrenching angst. ♥!

Wow! Thanks! *tongue-tied* I'm glad you liked it, and that the last section was effective. Imagery can either make things vivid or bog them down; it's really good to hear that the images here worked for you. Thanks so much for stopping by to comment!

Eeee, I'm so sorry to be answering this so late! It got all mixed up in the late comment glut that LJ was sending me, and I thought it was an old comment rather than a new comment, if you see what I mean. Again, I'm so sorry; I really didn't mean to be rude. *abashed*

all of a sudden the scene is full of longing.

Oh, thank you so much: that's exactly the effect I was shooting for in this angstfic: the kind of diffuse, helpless longing people feel when they can't quite perceive what they need but need it anyway, horribly.

Thank you so much for letting me know you liked the fic, and exactly which images worked best for you. I have this description fetish and it's always good to know whether a description ended up doing its job. :)

So angsty... so sad... and so absolutely perfect. Incomparable skills you've got.

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked the angst here. Comedy is a more natural mode for me, but there's a sadness lying just beneath the surface of the H/D pairing, a sadness of crossed signals and missed opportunities, and sometimes I just want to explore that. Thanks for letting me know this worked for you. :)
