Has anyone made a comprehensive list? Because I feel like menstruation is one of those things we've convinced ourselves NO ONE *EVER* writes about, and, yet, they do.
And, thanks. The other thing I failed to mention in my post is that it ended up being standing room only again, which shocked the heck out of me. The gallery didn't actually seat a ton of people (maybe a dozen), but the number of bodies that showed up to listen and discus was really moving. Plus, I don't know about you, but I've totally had bookstore readings that were MUCH more sparsely attended.
My first signing the only people I spoke to were those that I managed to catch the eye of and draw in, passing by. I've been to conventions and had scheduled readings, and no one showed up. So yeah, I know exactly what "sparse" means. :)
I haven't ever SEEN a list. And if there was one I'd like it to differentiate between "treated reasonably" and "used for some stupid effect" (the latter being exemplified by the SLAYERS anime (and I presume manga) in which there's a sequence of two or three episodes where it turns out Lina's powers are drastically reduced because she's menstruating. Minor props to the mangaka/animators for realizing that was a stupid and sexist sequence and never mentioning it again throughout all the years of the show and manga)

Menstruation was one thing I directly had to address in _Princess Holy Aura_, though I didn't make it a big deal after the first couple of mentions.

So yeah... maybe this is a research project for me.
