Humph. Episode 23 of Detective Academy Q appears to have vanished from my DAQ episodes. It's potentially possible that there was an oversight and I never got it but I'm sure that I watched it at my house so ... who fucking knows? Anyway, grrr and arragh and humph. BAD DAQ. Watched the Hell's Maestro arc instead out of spite. Hah hah. And then the ( Read more... )

I just can't understand why it's not there! I'm sure I watched it at home! *grumbles about how silly it is for having wandered off!* Mind you, it could be worse - at least it was a standalone rather than part two of a three or something! :D

That would be pretty awesome - we might be able to exchange it over MSN sometime?

LOL- I'm not sure the book even had a point- or if it did, it went over my head as well :D I think the thing that I really loved and enjoyed about it was the fact that it felt just like you were involved in someone's personal life for a while, with all the random events and interactions and family dynamics overlapping etc. I think Seth did an excellent job of capturing 'real life'. On top of which, culturally speaking, it was such an immersion into daily life in India during that period, in a lot of ways, that it was interesting to read for that alone, and for reading the responses to the continued British/Western presence in India during that time, after so long as a colony ( ... )

*grins* I thought it might not have a point but I never like to say that in case it did and I just missed it. And I do think I missed some of the subtler nuances of some of A Suitable Boy - bits of it seemed to make me go "Wait, bwa?" and I was sure that I ought to have been able to glean more about it. But I do agree - it was a lovely chunk of wandering through a part of some characters real lives and I thought that worked brilliantly. And it made me wish I knew more about India, which is also a good sign ( ... )

I have to say your comments on the book don't particularly make me want to read it, so I suspect the point would fly over my head too ^^

I know what you mean about new books and gloom; the books I've got from the library this time are a self-help book on dealing with your exes, a Young James Bond novel and a Nick Hornby. And I'm not sure about the Nick Hornby. Really I just want to read soothing stuff like Azumanga Daioh and Death Note ^^ *hugs you* Hopefully the mood will pass and you can then return to this new text.

And DAQ is love!

It is a good book, I don't want to deny it that but ... I probably wouldn't find myself exactly recommending it, if you know what I mean. Sort of a "Yeah, it's interesting, there's some great bits, if you're very interested in India ... " kind of recommendation.

*eyes Magician grumpily* I'll get round to reading it. Soon. *re-reads Eva Ibbotson instead*

DAQ IS LOVELY CRAZY GAY DETECTIVE LOVE! :D
