29 - International Astronomy Day: Have you ever looked through a telescope or gone to a planetarium? Do you have a favourite celestial body? I’ve been to a planetarium show. It was like being in a spaceship. The only excuse I can think of for backpacking into the forest primeval is the opportunity to see the night time sky without the canceling earth lights.
We used to go camping all the time up on the Mogollon Rim in Arizona. Payson was still a small town, so its light didn't interfere with being able to see the stars. It was heavenly.
It sounds divine. If only I were a more outdoorsy type.
When I was young we'd sometimes be at a relative's house in more rural New Jersey and see the night sky better. Of course, I was more nearsighted than I knew so things were blurry.
