[RL WITH SIRIUS] forward-dated to Wednesday

The night had not been a good night. Sometimes there were reasons as to why a transformation was worse than others, why the wolf was in full form some times while he was more dormant others. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that talking about relationships with Sirius earlier in the month had him aching inside for what he used to have, ( Read more... )

Sirius hated full moons like this. Even though his dog form was large and tough, it was no match for a werewolf hell-bent on hurting itself. Despite his attempts at distracting Remus and keeping him from doing too much damage to himself, there wasn’t much he was able to do while they were both transformed.

It hurt him to hear Remus cry out in pain and to see him so badly injured on the floor of the Shack, especially with his arm jutting at a clearly unnatural angle. When he had turned back into his normal self, he hurried to the other boy’s side and knelt down next to him.

“Remus…” He wished he were skilled enough to help him more, to make his injuries heal. But even Madam Pomfrey couldn’t heal them all, or why else would Remus have so many scars? “You okay?” It was a stupid question, and he knew it, but he wanted to know where Remus hurt before he tried to help him to the Hospital Wing.

Remus had his eyes shut tight after he'd transformed back, but when he heard Sirius's voice from right next to him he opened them to look for the other boy. Things hadn't been this bad since the summer after he'd broken up with Sirius, he noted, groaning as he pulled his arm the wrong way. Definitely broken, no question there. He didn't want to even look at it - he knew how it felt and he knew it couldn't be anything good.

"Sirius...?" he asked, faintly, swallowing and collecting himself before he spoke up again. "You're still here?" It wasn't a rare occasion for any of the others to stick around and walk him to the hospital wing, but when things got this bad, Madam Pomfrey was going to have to come and get him. Which meant waiting there. Suddenly he was glad that Sirius was there, so at least he wasn't waiting alone.

"Yeah. I'm right here," he said. He felt helpless; he wanted to be able to help Remus through nights like this, help heal his wounds, but it wasn't the sort of thing a 17 year-old wizard was able to handle, as much as he might want to. Madam Pomfrey would have to be the one to do it.

The sight of Remus' arm looked incredibly painful, and he couldn't even beging to imagine how it felt. "Is there -- is there anything I can do 'til Pomfrey's here? Your arm..."

Remus couldn't help it. Sirius had mentioned his arm, and against all common sense, he turned his head, raising it and glancing sideways to see how bad it was. And the answer was pretty horrible. He sucked in a breath that only just managed to keep itself from becoming a whimper, shut his eyes tight, and turned his head away, letting it fall to the ground exhausted with a thud.

"Sirius..." he said again, reaching toward the other with his good hand. Sure, it was sort of damaged too. It didn't seem that there was a single place on his body that he hadn't scraped, bruised, or cut in some way or another. And yet. He was going to have to lie there and wait, and there was nothing that Sirius could do to fix that, but he could hold his hand and comfort him, and at the moment, Remus needed that more than anything.
