(no subject)

I think I've come with terms with the fact that I'm never going to finish this project, mostly because I've forgotten how to use a pencil and need to relearn on simpler subjects, but also because I think it's good enough as it is. So I present an extremely late Christmas present to my flist and hope you enjoy it. It was never meant to be pretentious or anything, but I just wanted to draw something new, intentionally metaphorical.

Title: Dancing
Artist: Lunalelle
Characters: Hermione, Tom Riddle
Rating: All Ages
Media: pencil, photoshopped color-alterations
Notes: This was originally going to be a series of five or six pictures, a metaphor for the Hermione/Tom Riddle relationship from both ends, but for now, let's stick with Hermione's point of view. The three pictures are of Hermione dancing. Explanations for each picture are under the cut.
Disclaimer: Just because these pictures are metaphors for Hermione and Tom Riddle does not mean that they cannot be used as original pieces, so please do not use these images without expressed permission.

Hermione begins as a girl who follows rules almost religiously. She doesn't like being out of line or the disapproval of professors and students. This is why I chose to draw her in a ballet position - traditional, with a specific form and grace.

Gradually, Hermione becomes her own person, developing a bit of rebellion. We've seen that in canon. She deviates from tradition, making her own dance. The dance shown is more modern, more impromptu rather than rehearsed.

Tom Riddle takes advantage of that change in her, the turn away from tradition, and appeals to her sensual side in a tango, which is both traditional and wildly sensuous. They become one person in their deviation from the traditional chaste ballet and pause in the middle of their dance, connected in body and in the way they see each other now.
