Was Reading My Friends List for the First Time in Ages...

So james_nicoll linked this news about Terry Goodkind. Weird! I always felt a bit strange enjoying his books after I found out that he was basically writing Objectivist allegories (since I hate allegory), but this makes it sound like he sees Fantasy as an inferior mode. 1. Yes. GEOstationary indicates around a planet- specifically, around a planet, at the same place. The "stationary" refers to the whatever always being at the same place over the planet- ie) a satellite that's always trained on Ohio.

2. I've read stuff about black holes maybe or maybe not rotating. Last I read, I think consensus was maybe that the "rotation" that they thought they saw was actually everything else rotating around the black hole, as an effect of gravitational pull. Regardless, based on the little bit of astrophysics specifically to do with black holes that I know.... orbits around black holes would be hard. Geostationary orbits? Wrong application of a term.
